It was a glamourous and exciting moment on Friday at the Edjeba premises of Delta Broadcasting Service DBS Warri as staff of the state-owned broadcast station celebrated two of their retired veteran broadcasters, Madam Agatha Okene and Madam Alero Reden at a retirement party in their honour organised by members of the Production Unit under the Programmes Department.
Agatha Okene is renowned as a forerunner of the DBS Warri Pidgin English News and producer/anchor of a pidgin language programme “Talk Your Own”.
Alero Reden on her part is famous for producing and presenting the following programmes on Television: “Earning A Living”, “Children’s Train” and “Eve” while on radio “Family Line”.
The General Manager, DBS Warri, Pastor Malcolm Oteri in his remarks described Madam Alero Reden and Agatha Okene as dedicated staff who showed commitment to the job.
Pastor Oteri noted that Alero and Agatha took the name of Delta Broadcasting Service DBS Warri to a greater height and implored staff who are still in service to emulate them.
He explained that the ceremony has paved the way for the togetherness of Staff of DBS Warri and appealed that such avenues that promote the unity of staff be sustained for the overall good of the station.
The chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) DBS Warri Chapel, Comrade John Glover, his counter from the Radio, Television, Theater and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU), Comrade Faith Umokoro and other staff of the station attested to the fact that Agatha and Alero gave their best while in service.
Their family members and relatives of the celebrants appreciated the Production Unit of DBS Warri, management and staff for the event.
