After allegedly battling depression, popular South African hip-hop artist, Riky Rick, on Wednesday morning committed suicide.
Police reports said Riky Rick, aged 34 took his life in his home in the Northern suburbs of Johannesburg.
The musician, whose real name is Rikhado Muziwendlovu Makhado, allegedly hung himself with a rope.
According to reports, the rapper was found in his home at 8.30 am on Wednesday by close associates and rushed to a nearby hospital but died before getting to the health facility.
Riky Rick was commonly known across the music and fashion industries in South Africa as well as famous for his iconic fashion sense and willingness to empower young artists across the country.
He was the founder and owner of the Cotton Club Records label and Cotton Fest music festival.
His final tweets perhaps sent a message out to the world as a possible hint to his untimely death.
“I’ll return a stronger man. This land is still my home,” his last tweet reads.
