The Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, says the 2021 local government elections in the state would be conducted in the 34 new wards created by the Commission.

The state electoral body had on Tuesday announced 6th March 2021 for conduct of elections for chairmanship and councillorship positions for the twenty-five local government councils in the state.

DSIEC Chairman, Chief Michael Ogbodu who disclosed this in Asaba at a meeting with leaders of political parties and other stakeholders said the 34 new wards created by the Commission, bring the total number of wards where elections would hold in the state to 500.

He assured that the Commission would provide a level playing ground for the political parties to test their popularity urging them to play by the rules to guarantee a free, fair and credible election.

Chief Ogbodu enjoined all critical stakeholders, including the security agencies, media organizations, civil society and non-governmental organizations and the electorate to support the Commission in delivering a generally acceptable election.
