The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has withheld the certificate of Lagos corps member, Ushie Rita Uguamaye, and extended her service year by two months for failing to attend the April 2025 biometrics clearance.
In a statement on X on Sunday, NYSC said Uguamaye, popularly known as “Raye” (State Code: LA/24B/8325), was among 131 corps members sanctioned for similar offences, in line with the scheme’s bye-laws.
Raye made headlines in March after publicly criticising President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of worsening economic conditions in Nigeria.
NYSC, however, dismissed claims that the sanction was politically motivated, describing such allegations as “entirely unfounded.”
The agency stressed that service extensions are a standard disciplinary procedure applied uniformly, with no political considerations involved.
