The member representing Udu Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Peter Okagbare Uviejitobor has distributed another set of furniture to schools in Udu Local Government Area.
The distribution is the third phase of the exercise as the lawmaker had earlier presented 800 set of desks and chairs in two tranches to sixteen schools in the local government area.
Four schools in Udu were beneficiaries of the gifts of desks and chairs by the lawmaker, Peter Uviejitobor which saw the distribution of 250 sets of furniture.
The schools were Otor-Udu Secondary School, Otor-Udu, Oghior Secondary School, Oghior, Egini Grammar School, Egini and Orhuwhorun High School, Orhuwhorun, all in Udu local government area.
The presentations were made on Thursday, July 14, 2022, to the various schools, amidst screams of gratitude to the lawmaker for his benevolence by the management and staff of the benefiting schools.
Hon Uviejitobor explained that the distribution of the 250 sets of furniture to the four selected schools in the locality, brought the number to over one million sets of desks and chairs in the “School Furniture Project” being executed in collaboration with the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC.
He stated that the furniture was part of efforts to enhance teaching and learning in the locality in line with the vision of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s led administration in the education sector as well as the yearnings and aspirations of the constituents.
Uviejitobor who is the Chairman, House Committee on Water Resources, commended Governor Okowa for his efforts towards the development of all sectors of the state economy.
He stressed the commitment of the government to grow school infrastructures across the state and assured the people of sustained efforts to attract greater development to Udu.
Hon Uviejitobor enjoined the benefiting schools to make judicious use of the items donated and guide them against vandalism.
The management of the schools commended Hon Peter Uviejitobor for his magnanimity and commitment to enhancing the quality of life and development of infrastructure in Udu constituency.
While appealing for more of the furniture, the schools promised to make good use of the donated chairs and desks as encouragement for more of such donations.
