The contracting firms handling the construction of the School of Management Science of the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, Orerokpe Campus in Okpe Local Government Area have assured of meeting the October 2024 timeline set for the completion of the project.
The contractors gave the assurance on Thursday when the Special Adviser, Delta State Directorate of Project Monitoring, Dr Goodnews Agbi-led a team of engineers of the directorate on an inspection of ongoing projects at the campus.
When the Dr Goodnews Agbi-led project monitoring team arrived at the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Orerokpe Campus, situated on the Abraka/Eku road just before the popular Orerokpe junction, massive construction was going on with adequate manpower and movement of heavy-duty construction equipment.
The Dr Agbi-led monitoring team was conducted round the project site by Engineer Adah SimonPeter of Peculiar Consult Limited handling the construction of the road, drains, retaining wall and 500-seater capacity auditorium.
While Engineer Ifeanyi Ochuba of Sharpstone Company Limited took the team through the ongoing construction of the Faculty and Administrative building, classrooms and offices, female and male hostels, cafeteria, school clinic block, residential apartments for staff and the lodge for the school provost.
Engineer Ochuba told the monitoring that his firm was saddled with the reconstruction and remodelling of the School of Management Science of the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, Orerokpe Campus due to some existing uncompleted structures carried out under the proposed Model Technical College Orerokpe.
Both firms working at the campus promised to deliver the projects are agreed with the Delta State Government.
The Special Adviser, Delta State Directorate of Project Monitoring, Dr Goodnews Agbi expressed delight with the pace of work by the two contractors at the Orerokpe Campus which he noted further demonstrates the commitment of the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori towards the completion of all projects across the state.
At the ongoing construction of the School of Medical Science at the Ozoro campus of the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Dr Agbi said the project was progressing well apart from minor structural misalignment noticed which the directorate, project consultant and awarding ministry will meet to sort out.
Mr Solomon Echegile who spoke on behalf of the contracting firm said they are committed to completing the project at the end of 2024.
Dr Goodnews Agbi-led project monitoring team has continued to keep contractors handling various projects of the Delta State Government on their toes in line with the zero tolerance for shoddy jobs by the Oborevwori administration.
