The Delta State Government has released the approved academic calendar for the 2025/2026 school year for all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state.

According to a statement signed by the Functioning Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs. Patricia Iniovosa-Okakwu, on behalf of the State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, and her counterpart in charge of Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, schools are to resume for the first term on Monday, September 8, 2025.

School heads and staff are to resume earlier on Monday, September 1, while boarders are expected back in school on Sunday, September 7.

First Term (September–December 2025)

Pre-Midterm Teaching: Sept. 8 – Oct. 17

Post-Midterm Teaching: Oct. 27 – Dec. 12

Examinations: Dec. 8 – 12

STAR Day & SBMC Meeting: Dec. 12

Vacation: Dec. 15 – Jan. 2, 2026

Second Term (January–April 2026)

Resumption: Jan. 5

Pre-Midterm Teaching: Jan. 5 – Feb. 13

Midterm Break: Feb. 16 – 20

Post-Midterm Teaching: Feb. 23 – Apr. 2

Examinations: Mar. 27 – Apr. 2

STAR Day & SBMC Meeting: Apr. 2

Vacation: Apr. 6 – 17

Third Term (April–July 2026)

Boarders Resumption: Apr. 19

Pre-Midterm Teaching: Apr. 20 – May 29

Midterm Break: Jun. 1 – 5

BECE (JS3): Jun. 1 – 5

STAR Day & SBMC Meeting: Jul. 24

Long Vacation: Jul. 27 – Sept. 14

The government urged all school administrators, teachers, parents, and students to strictly adhere to the dates in the approved calendar.
