After 8 months, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has finally suspended its strike conditionally.
ASUU arrived at the decision after a marathon meeting of its National Executive Committee (NEC) which started Thursday night and lasted till the early hours of Friday.
Confirming the suspension of the strike, members of ASUU NEC told journalists that the committee will determine its next line of action, especially on last week’s Court of Appeal ruling.
The Appellate Court had ruled that ASUU can only appeal the judgement of the National Industrial Court ordering it to suspend its strike after calling it off.
An official statement from the Union is expected.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, made a very strong intervention last week for ASUU to call off the eight-month-old strike.
The Union has been on strike since February 14 this year.
