As part of efforts to ensure sanity and orderliness at the Spare Parts Market, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, the chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Hon Ramson Onoyake has set up a 7-member Caretaker Committee to run the affairs of the market for two months before the election of a new executive.
The busy motor spare parts market located a few metres after the popular Effurun roundabout on the Effurun/Sapele highway is tagged the Unity Spare Parts Market following concerted efforts by the council chairman to ensure unity and love among the spare parts dealers.
The 7-member Caretaker Committee of the spare parts market was selected among members cutting across all the ethnic groups to ensure equity and fairness.
To achieve this, Hon Onoyake asked seven persons of different ethnic groups to come out to choose among them members of the spare parts interim caretaker committee.
Inaugurating the interim Caretaker Committee, Honourable Onoyake charged them to administer the spare parts market for two months pending the election of a new executive.
The Uvwie Council chairman tasked members of the Caretaker Committee and the spare parts dealers in the market to focus on their businesses and shun acts that could disrupt the peace in the market.
Onoyake also advised the spare parts dealers to always keep the market clean and those parking their tricycles at the entrance of the market to stop forthwith or get them impounded on his next visit.
The seven-member interim caretaker committee has Mr Osah Joseph as chairman, Mr Sunday Onyemechi, Secretary while Mr Kayode Okhiere, Moses Okorie, Israel Akpan, Mrs Margaret Okorodudu and Sunday Okukpolukpo are to serve as members.
