The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Special Duties, Mr. Kelvin Ogboru, has lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State on the inclusion of youth in his government.

Mr. Ogboru stated this while addressing a selected group of Deltans at a recent event in Oxford, United Kingdom.

In his words, “In Nigeria’s ever-evolving political landscape, Delta State stands out as a beacon of progress under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. The Governor’s focus on youth inclusion has initiated a paradigm shift, fundamentally transforming governance in the state. As someone closely involved, I have had the privilege to witness the Governor’s commitment to empowering young people.

“Governor Oborevwori understands that the energy and fresh ideas of young people can fuel the state’s development. By creating opportunities for youth to take on significant roles, he is tapping into a valuable resource for Delta’s future.

“His administration has launched various youth empowerment initiatives, including programmes in education, skills training, and leadership development. These are designed to prepare young individuals for leadership and public service.

“A key part of the Governor’s strategy is giving young people a voice in decision-making. Through youth forums, advisory councils, and mentoring schemes, the Governor ensures that the perspectives of the younger generation are integral to policy development. This engagement is shaping the political environment, ensuring that governance reflects the aspirations of the youth.

“Moreover, Governor Oborevwori has gone beyond merely involving the youth. He has entrusted young leaders with important positions within government.

“Today, young Deltans serve as commissioners, advisers, and even state legislators. This bold move demonstrates the Governor’s belief in the ability of youth to drive meaningful change.

“The benefits of this youth inclusion strategy are clearly in line with the MORE-AGENDA of the present administration. The state is seeing fresh ideas, innovative policies, and a growing sense of inclusivity. Young leaders are helping to build a more dynamic, forward-looking Delta State, where optimism is on the rise.

“Governor Oborevwori’s vision for youth participation in governance is not only forward-thinking but also essential for the state’s future. His dedication to empowering young people is reshaping the political landscape, delivering both economic and social progress.

“As Chairman Mao Zedong once said, “Young people are the most active and vital force in society. They are the most dynamic and forward-thinking force in society.

“Delta State is fortunate to have a Governor who believes in the youth, recognising them as the leaders of tomorrow and empowering them to take on that responsibility today.”
