Dr Barry Gbe, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, will be one of the discussants at this year’s edition of Maris Annual Public Lecture series, Secretary, Maris Trust Council, MTC, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, has said.
Egugbo in a statement issued on Monday in Asaba, disclosed that the choice of Dr Gbe was borne out of the fact that he is a man of several parts, a man who believes in contributing positively to the growth of the society and someone who will do justice to the topic, Brain Drain: Any Future For Nigeria?
He added that Dr Gbe has agreed to be one of the discussants at the lecture which will be delivered by an erudite scholar and an astute administrator, Prof. Stella Chinye Chiemeke, the Vice Chancellor, University of Delta, UNIDEL, Agbor, Delta State.
“It is a thing of joy to inform participants, sponsors and our friends that from today, we commenced the release of names of those who will play critical roles in this year’s edition of Maris Annual Public Service Lecture.
“First of all, we thank God for making it possible for the lecture to take place annually and meet with its objectives of identifying societal challenges with the sole aim of proffering solutions to them, truly, with God, it is always possible.

“The topic for discussion this year is generating a lot of positive reactions bearing in mind the way Nigerians are leaving the country in search of greener pastures and Prof. Chiemeke, former Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku and presently, the Vice Chancellor, University of Delta, Agbor as a ‘Manager of Youths,’ has been described as the ideal person to deliver the lecture.
“Also, Dr. Gbe, for years, was the Commissioner for Economic Planning, a position which exposed him to the economic situation of the country, and he was also, carefully chosen to discuss the topic at the lecture which will take place on its traditional date of the Wednesday of the Holy Week, the Wednesday before Easter Sunday and for this year’s edition, it shall hold on March 27 at noon prompt.

CHIEF DR. BARRY PERE GBE (JP) is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP from Akugbene, Ward 9 in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State.
In 2018, Barry Gbe bagged a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration in the United Kingdom. He had in 2017, got a Master of Science Degree in Policy and Development Studies from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
Dr. Gbe who is happily married and the marriage is blessed with children, also, has a Master of Science Degree in Organizational Behaviour from the University of Lagos, a Master of Science Degree in Industrial/Labour Relations from the Delta State University, Abraka, Master in Business Administration from the University of Benin, Benin-City, Post-Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Benin, Benin City, among others.
