Eighty-seven persons in Delta State have successfully undergone training in solar power installation and phone repairs.

The two-day training which took place in Asaba, the state capital, 7th – 8th February 2022, was organised by the National Directorate of Employment in collaboration with Senator James Manager representing Delta South Senatorial District in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly.

The training is among the series of empowerment programmes sponsored yearly by Senator Manager for his constituents cutting across the eight local government areas in Delta South: Bomadi, Burutu, Patani, Isoko South, Isoko North, Warri South, Warri South-West and Warri North.

Held at the Excel Suites, Opposite Police Headquarters, Along Okpanam Road, Asaba, the training targeted vulnerable women and youths drawn from the eight council areas.

At the end of the training, the participants including males and females were presented starter packs to enable them to start their own businesses and contribute their quota to the economic well-being of their families and society.

Chief Godbless Omoniye and Mr Jackson Okodozor, who represented Senator Manager said the training in solar power installation and phone repairs was chosen because of its relevance to modern-day human existence and development.

Omoniye and Okodozor restated the passion and commitment of Senator Manager to the empowerment of his constituents noting that this is the second time he is carrying out training in GSM/phone repairs.

They described Senator Manager as a grassroot politician who believes in the well-being of his constituents urging the beneficiaries to make good use of the knowledge gained from the training and the starter packs to enable them economically viable and selfreliant.

They stated further that non-indigenes were also beneficiaries in 2021 when Senator Manager influenced COVID-19 loan to 387 persons in Delta South urging the people to continue to give their support to him.

Some of the beneficiaries particularly commended Senator James Manager, who is aspiring to be governor of Delta State come 2023 for diligently sustaining his empowerment programmes.

They expressed deep thanks to him and pledged their sustained support to him.
