In a landmark development for the people of Abbi in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, Senator Prince Ned Nwoko has commissioned 50 solar-powered streetlights, signalling yet another stride in his commitment to grassroots empowerment and sustainable infrastructure.
The installation of the solar streetlights, commissioned during a high-profile event attended by Senator Barinada Mpigi of Rivers South-East Senatorial District, marked a new chapter in the town’s development journey—ushering in light, safety, and a renewed sense of communal pride.
The project, spearheaded by Senator Ned Nwoko under his constituency intervention initiatives, underscores his vision for environmentally friendly and cost-effective solutions to the infrastructural challenges facing Delta North. The solar lights, now fully operational, span key access roads and public spaces in Abbi, improving nighttime security and stimulating local economic activity.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Senator Nwoko described the project as “a symbol of sustainable progress and a reflection of our commitment to bring development closer to the people.” He emphasized that the initiative was just one of many under his legislative agenda to ensure even distribution of federal presence in rural communities.
“We’re not just installing lights,” the senator stated, “we’re igniting possibilities—helping small businesses thrive after dark, creating safer streets for families, and ensuring our communities benefit from the dividends of democracy.”
While the event also drew warmth from the presence of Senator Mpigi—Abbi’s esteemed son-in-law—the solar project itself was firmly rooted in Senator Nwoko’s development blueprint for Delta North.
He further announced plans for a second phase of 50 additional solar lights in collaboration with Senator Mpigi, reinforcing a growing synergy that transcends political boundaries in pursuit of common good.
With a focus on impact-driven representation, Senator Nwoko has continued to gain accolades for his approach to governance—one marked by presence, performance, and people-centred service delivery. Residents, traditional leaders, and dignitaries at the event hailed his consistency, calling the solar installation a “light-bearing legacy” that will benefit generations.
As darkness gives way to brightness in Abbi’s streets, so too does Senator Ned Nwoko’s leadership continue to illuminate the path of progress across Delta North.
