Delta State Commissioner, Directorate of Transport, Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana has called on the people of the state to key into the state government’s transport insurance and welfare scheme.

The scheme was introduced by the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to cater for accidents victims within and outside the state.

Rt. Hon. Ganagana was speaking on Thursday, October 28, 2021, in Warri, while presenting a cheque to the management of Libra Motors as compensation to victims, who were involved in an accident with the company’s vehicle on Saturday, October 23, 2021, while travelling along the Benin-Lagos Highway.

He explained that the scheme is backed by an enabling law in the state noting that the intention of the state government is to mitigate the resultant effect of vehicular accidents no matter the location in the country.

The Transport Commissioner stated that the insurance cost only a hundred naira upon embarking on journeys within and outside the state.

Speaking earlier, the head of the management team of the state Transport Welfare Scheme, Mr Egogo Lawrence, said the scheme will continue to deliver on its mandate and called on other stakeholders to emulate the initiative.

Representative of LIBRA Motors, Mr Mike Oriri, expressed appreciation to the state governor for the gesture and promised to comply with all the requirements contained in the scheme.
