Delta State Post Primary Education Board (PPEB) has warned teachers who are yet to comply with the state government’s school resumption directive, without permission, that absenteeism will not be tolerated, stressing that violators will be sanctioned.
In a statement released in Asaba, the state capital, the Chairman of the Board, Prof. Emmanuel Tibi, reminded teachers that all secondary schools in the state resumed second-term academic activities for the 2025/2026 session on Monday, January 5.
Tibi urged all relevant staff of the Board’s zonal offices and headquarters to actively participate in the ongoing monitoring exercise to ensure full compliance with the resumption directive.
He said the monitoring exercise should be taken seriously to ascertain the level of compliance by teachers across the state.
Describing the situation as unacceptable,
Tibi noted that four days after resumption, some teachers were still absent from their duty posts, including those who failed to obtain permission from their school heads.
He commended teachers who complied with the directive and expressed satisfaction with the commencement of classes in some of the schools visited by him and his team.
The PPEB Chairman reminded teachers that their services are critical to building a sustainable society and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with utmost commitment for the overall development of the state.
He added that the Delta State Government, under the leadership of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has continued to demonstrate commitment to teachers’ welfare, noting that educators are expected to reciprocate by contributing meaningfully to the success of the M.O.R.E Agenda.
