Delta State Police Command has taken swift action following a viral video alleging that officers at the Jesse Division extorted ₦2.5 million from a woman seeking her brother’s release.
The video, circulating online, names DPO Jesse, Officer Bright, and Officer Usman as the accused.
The complainant said the payment was demanded to secure the release of her younger brother, Israel Onojeruo, 20, who was arrested in connection with a gun transaction involving another suspect, Okoro Desmond.
In response, Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, ordered the immediate redeployment of DPO Jesse to the command headquarters.
Officer Bright has been detained, while the AC X-Squad has been tasked with conducting a full investigation into the allegations.
CP Adesola emphasized that officers found guilty of extortion, intimidation, or unprofessional conduct will face strict disciplinary action under the Police Act.
