The Delta State Police Command has dismantled an organised drug syndicate operating in Ugborikoko, Warri, arresting seven suspects and recovering large quantities of hard drugs and processing tools.
According to the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the breakthrough followed an intelligence-led operation carried out by operatives of the Ugborikoko Division on January 20, 2026.
Edafe disclosed that one suspect was initially arrested during the raid and subsequently provided information that led to the arrest of six other alleged members of the drug supply chain.
Those arrested were identified as Daniel Ojukwu, Rose Otofi, Osaro Okosu, Maro Ibecham, Fregene Victory and Kevwe Irimoni.
He said searches conducted at their residences yielded various illicit substances, including multiple packs of Indian hemp, Canadian loud, Kolorado, Swinol sachets, Tramadol tablets and crushers believed to have been used for drug processing and resale.
In a related development, Edafe said the Command also recorded a significant arrest during a stop-and-search operation at the Head Bridge boundary between Anambra and Delta states on January 22, 2026.
Operatives of the Command’s Buffalo Patrol Team intercepted a Toyota Sienna vehicle coming from Anambra State, where a search revealed three pump-action guns, one locally fabricated dane gun, a battle axe and twenty-six live cartridges concealed inside the vehicle.
Six occupants of the vehicle — Nwanlioba Ikechukwu Dominic, Agbata Mathew, Osita Chineye, Favour Peterson, Prince Tochukwu and Clement Nwakwa — were arrested and taken into custody for further investigation.
The Police spokesperson said the suspects gave inconsistent explanations regarding their movement before the weapons were discovered.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, has reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to dismantle criminal networks across the state through intelligence-driven operations.
He urged residents to remain law-abiding and to continue providing timely and credible information to the Police, assuring that all tips would be treated with strict confidentiality.
