The Delta State Police Command has recorded multiple operational breakthroughs in Asaba, resulting in the arrest of suspected armed robbers, cultists, and drug peddlers, as well as the recovery of firearms and illicit substances.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, the operations, conducted between October 1 and 3, 2025, were carried out by operatives of the ‘B’ Division Asaba, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and the Eagle Net Special Squad (ENSS), in collaboration with local vigilantes and government agencies.
On October 1, 2025, officers of the ‘B’ Division, led by Divisional Police Officer, CSP Edewor Akponegware, responded swiftly to a distress report of an armed robbery at the BONSAAC axis of Asaba, where a female victim was attacked and robbed at gunpoint by two male suspects.
Working with local vigilantes, the police established a security cordon around the area and began a systematic search of nearby streets.
The effort yielded results when one of the suspects, identified as Amara Nwako (21), from Oko community, was intercepted, while his accomplice fled into an uncompleted building.
A locally made pistol was recovered from the vicinity. Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect may have links to the Arobaga secret cult. He remains in custody as a manhunt continues for his fleeing partner.
In another development, on October 2, 2025, operatives of the Eagle Net Special Squad (ENSS), led by Commander SP Danyaya Yunusa, in synergy with the Office of the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Illicit Drugs and Human Trafficking, intercepted a truck with registration number 3BGT 18LG during a stop-and-search operation in Asaba.
The truck, driven by Dennis Uruma (52) of Igalamela LGA, Kogi State, was found to be conveying large quantities of suspected illicit drugs.
The driver was arrested on the spot while counting and measurement of the exhibits are ongoing.
Continuing the momentum, on October 3, 2025, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), led by Commander CSP Nosa Alex, acting on credible intelligence, raided a suspected criminal hideout around the Basket Market area of Asaba.
Three suspects, Rabbi Godwin (25), Lucky Nanakumo (20), and David Igwe (19), were arrested during the operation. A fabricated Beretta pistol was recovered at the scene.
The suspects are in RRS custody while investigations continue to identify and apprehend other members of their gang.
