The Delta State Police Command has successfully apprehended suspected armed robbers and cultists in two intelligence-driven operations, recovering firearms, ammunition, and stolen property.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, said in a statement that on 23rd November 2025, at about 6:30 a.m., operatives responded to a robbery incident along the Asaba–Benin Expressway near the Dustbin/Mango Tree area.
The Eagle Net Special Squad, led by SP Danyaya Inusa, in collaboration with the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service under DSP Abu Joshua, engaged the assailants after they opened fire.
The suspects fled but were pursued, leading to the arrest of Oghenemaro Martins (25), Tarebi Miracle Ogbada (22), and Okorie James Kalu (19).
A black bag abandoned by the fleeing suspects was recovered at the scene, containing items that tied them directly to the robbery and other criminal acts.
The bag held an English-made Beretta pistol, a locally made pistol, four live 9mm Beretta rounds, an HP laptop, an iPhone S, a Tecno phone, a Samsung phone, a PS5 console, two necklaces, and a laptop charger.
The recovered items corresponded with reports from previous victims along the Okpanam–Asaba corridor. The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
In a separate operation on 24th November 2025, operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson, arrested three confessed members of the Aye Confraternity in Sapele and Oghara. The arrested individuals were Miracle Umukoro (52), Mudiaga Ukavwe (31), and Solomon Oghoro, aka Spartan (30).
Recovered from the suspects were a pump-action gun loaded with six live cartridges, a cutlass, and a Toyota Sienna (Reg. No. LSR 621 JW) believed to have been used for surveillance and other criminal operations.
All suspects are currently in police custody, with ongoing investigations aimed at dismantling the cult network.
