Three years after His Royal Majesty Ajuwe, Samson Owhe, Ogugu 1, the Osuivie of Agbarho Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, reportedly escaped being killed by armed persons who invaded his palace, the monarch is set to return to the palace, NewsNet Nigeria has authoritatively gathered.

Recall that the traditional ruler was on Sunday morning December 2, 2018, reportedly chased out from his palace by gunmen who stormed the palace to execute his dethronement.

He subsequently went into hiding one year after he was presented Staff of Office by the Delta State government on Monday, November 6, 2017.

NewsNet Nigeria investigation revealed that it was the information that the monarch has been asked to return to his palace on the orders of the Delta State government that prompted the staged protest last week Wednesday, October 20, 2021, by some chiefs against his reinstatement.

The third kingmaker of Agbarho Kingdom, Chief Liberty Evwen Emaka had said the protest was against an alleged reinstatement of their dethroned king, Chief Samson Ogugu, which according to him was against the wishes of the Agbarho people.

However, a dependable source privy to the outcome of the State Security Council meeting which was held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, in Asaba, the Delta State capital, disclosed that Chief William Onokpite, who has been parading himself as the new monarch was directed to vacate the palace within two weeks from the date of the directive.

According to the source who craved anonymity, Chief Onokpite was told to go and work with Ogugu 1, the Osuivie of Agbarho Kingdom having admitted that he was misled into accepting to replace him as king of the kingdom.

The source said the story has however changed on Chief Onokpite’s return to Agbarho after the meeting some chiefs allegedly prevailed upon him not to vacate the palace.

When contacted, calls put across by this medium to Chief Onokpite’s mobile number which ends with 437 were not answered.

As it stands, events in the coming days will show clearly compliance to the directive by the Delta State Security Council on the crisis that has been rocking the throne of Agbarho Kingdom for the past three years.
