Principals of public secondary schools in Delta state have been charged to shun illegal and unapproved collections from parents as the 2021/2022 academic session kicks off on Monday, September 13, 2021.

The state Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs Rose Ezewu sounded out this warning in a pre-school resumption chat with newsmen in Asaba, the state capital.

Mrs Ezewu, who underlined the commitment of the Okowa-led government of the state in improving the secondary school system said the release of the Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE, popularly called JSS 3 results during the holidays was deliberate for all in the secondary school system to be carried along from the beginning of the new academic session.

The Secondary Education Commissioner urged parents to check for the results of their wards and get them registered into the Senior Secondary School 1 class quickly for them not to lose anything.

Warning against all forms of illegal collections by school principals, Mrs Ezewu stressed that the ministry of education guidelines must be strictly adhered to in the admission and registration of new students into any class.

She also reminded parents that the resit examinations for the BECE results released last month had been scheduled for September 18, 2021.

She therefore advised parents whose children or wards may have travelled during the holidays to make sure they returned and got registered and prepared for the BECE resit examinations if they were to take it .

Mrs Ezewu called on parents to instill moral values and discipline in their children and wards as they resume on Sunday September 12th for boarding students and Monday September 13th for day students.

She pointed out that the compulsory resumption test would also hold upon resumption along with other school activities.
