Delta State Commissioner for Works, Urban and Highways, Comrade Reuben Izeze, Friday paid an unscheduled inspection visit to Sector A of the Ughelli-Asaba dualization road project.

Izeze who was at the Oleh roundabout axis of the road project to ascertain the pace of the work, restated the government’s commitment to get the job done as quickly as possible.

He explained that visits to project sites for inspection were a continuous exercise aimed at ensuring that contractors handling the projects in the state are on sites working.

Izeze stated that regular visits would not only enhance the speed of work on the projects but also ensure that standards were maintained in line with global best practices and the BOQ.

The Commissioner restated government commitment to completing the Ughelli-Asaba dualization, saying that the high vehicular moment on the expressway, made it so expedient to get the job done.

Izeze charged the contractor to keep to the designed standard as contained in the bill of the engineering measurement and evaluation.

The Works Commissioner said the Ministry will not compromise quality and was determined to ensure value for the money committed to any project.

Comrade Izeze who commended the level of the ongoing construction work, however reminded the firm handling the project for the state government to increase the speed of work.

He urged the company to take advantage of the upcoming dry season to achieve good milestones and deliver the project without further delay.

The Commissioner who was conducted round by officials of Levant Construction Company, the firm executing the project, said the state government will keep to it part of the contractual agreement.

It will be recalled that Comrade Izeze, had on Tuesday, inspected the sector C of the Asaba-Ughelli dualization, where he urged the contractor, Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company, CCECC, to expedite work on the project and get the job completed.

He said the state Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori had expressed concern over delay in the completion of the project, which connects several communities across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Accompanied by some top government officials in the Ministry of Works, Izeze, the two-term member of the State Assembly, expressed satisfaction on the quality of work being executed by the construction company.
