Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Olorogun Vincent Oyibode has warned that government would not tolerate any oil company or host community bent on fomenting trouble in the state.

Mr Oyibode gave the warning when he received stakeholders from Igbuku community in Ndokwa East Local Government Area, who paid him a familiarization visit in his office in Asaba.

He noted that natural resources are a blessing and not a curse, hence communities should stop fighting over such endowments, maintain peace and unity and be cautious in managing their internal affairs.

The Oil and Gas Commissioner invited Igbuku community and Pillar Oil to a meeting in Asaba next week Monday, to resolve all pending issues between them.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for giving him the opportunity to serve, and the Igbuku community for their support for the Governor.

He urged them to key into the MORE agenda, as they would be carried along in the Oil and Gas sector.

Leaders of the delegation, High Chief Pius Omasanuwa, Chief Jonathan Abanum and Counsel to Igbuku Community, Mr. Rupert Irikefe, said the visit was aimed at facilitating the commissioner on his appointment, describing him as a grassroots man, a mobilizer, an activist with credible antecedents

They expressed happiness with the position of the government, saying that there had been agreements existing among the government, Igbuku community and Pillar Oil company operating in the area, but when it comes to paying compensations, the company relied on court judgements and processes, hence the invitation for a meeting by the commissioner.

The visit featured the presentation of gift to the commissioner, who dedicated it to the peace in the state.
