Delta govt committed to ICT development – Oma Adasen

The Delta State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Chief Jennifer Oma Adasen has said Information Communication Technology (ICT) Hub, Asaba, forms part of the broader vision of the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to intensify ICT education in the state and encourage the youths to participate in the technology world.

Chief Oma Adasen stated this when she paid unscheduled visit to the ICT Hub in Asaba to check the level of practical exposure of the participants at the ongoing ICT training programme.

She said the ICT Hub was designed and equipped the requisite tools to train students to gain the required knowledge relevant to ICT in the state.

She acknowledged the high quality gadgets used for the training and called on the public to make the use of ICT a necessity as well as utilise the skills in the various programmes.

She reiterated government’s commitment to making ICT easily accessible to all communities in the state and advised the trainees and the public to observe the safety protocols, whenever, they visit the Centre to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.

The participants showed appreciation and commended Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for these great opportunity given to them to benefit from his administration.

One of the participants, Master Christopher Ariakpomu from Isoko North Local government Area, said the training has exposed and impacted meaningfully to his life.

He said, “I must confess, I sincerely appreciate the Delta State government for giving us this platform to learn a skill”.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. B. O Okonta while responding to some questions said, “The internet and ICT facilities are critically needed to facilitate online learning, business processes and human interactions”.

He explained that another essential aspect of ensuring that the students acquire the requisite skills to explore the digital world was to build the digital competencies of felicitators to effectively utilise the ICT Centre.
