Delta State House of Assembly, Tuesday, slammed an indefinite suspension on the Chairman, Ndokwa West Local Government Council, Chief Obi Nzete and the Vice Chairman, Mrs Anwuli Asuobi on allegations of official misconduct.

The suspension order which was pronounced at plenary presided over by the Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ochor Christopher Ochor was sequel to allegation of Financial misappropriation, official misconducts, among others as alleged by the legislative arm of the council.

The Legislative Arm of Ndokwa West Local Government Council, had forwarded to the State Assembly notice of removal of the Chairman of the Council, Chief Obi Nzete and the Vice Chairman, Mrs Anwuli Asuobi respectively for rectification.

The letter was read by the Deputy Speaker, Ochor Christopher Ochor, revealing that fifteen out of twenty member legislative House signed the impeachment notice.

He said the Council boss and his deputy removal was as a result of series of allegations, including gross misconduct, abuse of office and failure to adhere to due process in the running of their offices as stipulated in section 31 of the local government law of Delta State.

Consequently the Deputy Speaker announced the sitting up of a four man adhoc committee to investigate the allegations and to submit its report in six weeks time.

The Committee has the Chairman, Assembly Committee on Public Accounts, Hon Anthony Elekeokwuri as Chairman, while Honorables Oboro Preyor, Pat Ajudua and Reuben Izeze are to serve as members.

The Deputy clerk of the House, Mr. Otto Aghoghophia would serve as secretary

The House ordered that the leader of the Legislative arm, Mr Clement Okwuazu should take charge of the affairs of the council pending the outcome of the investigation.

The development was coming barely one week after the State legislature approved the suspension of the Chairman, of Ndokwa East local Government council, Mr. Juan Governor on allegations of financial misappropriation.
