The Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Trade and Investment has scheduled Tuesday, November 11, 2025, for a public hearing on a bill seeking to establish a new Delta State Gaming Board.
According to a statement signed by the Committee Chairman, Hon. Collins Ovie Egbetamah, the hearing will begin at 12 noon at the Press Centre, Delta State House of Assembly Complex, Okpanam Road, Asaba.
The Committee invites inputs from relevant ministries, government agencies, gaming operators, and members of the public. Specifically, it calls for written or oral submissions from the Ministries of Trade and Investment, Finance, and Justice, the Delta State Investment Development Agency (DIDA), the State Board of Internal Revenue, the Delta State Sports Commission, and other stakeholders in the gaming industry.
All memoranda (20 copies) should be addressed to the Chairman, House Committee on Trade and Investment, and clearly marked “Delta State Gaming Board Bill, 2025.” Submissions must reach the Clerk of the Committee, Mr. Oge Ogana, on or before Monday, November 10, 2025.
Hon. Egbetamah urged stakeholders to seize the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the formulation of a comprehensive and effective regulatory framework for gaming activities in Delta State.
The Delta State Gaming Board Bill, 2025, seeks to repeal outdated laws, including the Delta State Lotteries Board Law (1976), Lotteries Law (1990), Pools Betting (Control and Taxation) Law (1996), and Betting Duty Law (1954).
The proposed legislation aims to establish a modern, transparent regulatory structure for gaming, lotteries, sports betting, and related activities across the state.
