Delta 2023: PDP clears Oborevwori for May 23 guber primaries

By Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe

Since the world was created by God, there had been no recorded case of darkness having victory over light. Rather, when light appears, darkness would instantly find it’s level. It disappears and bows to the divine supremacy of light.

Such has been the case between Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, the leading governorship aspirant in Delta State, under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and frustrated Olorogun David Edevbie, in the failed alleged certificate forgery saga sponsored by Delta Oligarchs promoting the unpopular aspirant against Oborevwori, the Pan Delta Project.

Confirmed official information from the national headquarters of PDP in Abuja, clearly indicates that the billionaires cum Oligarchs and David Edevbie efforts to blackmail and demonize Oborevwori out of the gubernatorial race crashed like a pack of cards. There is pitiable self induced wailing and gnashing of teeth in Edevbie Campaign Office, Ughelli North Local Government Area.

Both the governorship screening committee and the Appeal panel of the party are now in one accord as Oborevwori triumphed over the evil plot of his detractors. All attempts to prevent Mr Speaker from contesting the Gubernatorial Primaries on May 23, failed to yield any positive result. Case dismissed. To God be the glory.

PDP has exonerated Oborevwori from any wrong doings and subsequently gave him green light to participate in the May 23 PDP Primaries as governorship aspirant. This is the end of discussion and his detractors are grumbling like dogs looking for bones to crunch. Their game is up and they shall face a humiliating defeat at the Primaries.

All their allegations against Oborevwori were baseless, ill conceived, malicious, unfounded, borne out of acute jealousy and desperation to grab PDP Guber ticket through the back door, so as to have unhindered access, once again, to Delta State Treasury, their main target in 2023 and beyond. But PDP delegates are determined to ensure that affliction does not arise again.

Three major issues were raised in their petitions and media propaganda thus; (1) Falsification of Age, (2) Multiple and Different Names in Certificates Submitted, and (3) Fake WAEC Certificate and Inconsistencies In Secondary Education, respectively.

On the issue of Falsification of Age; Oborevwori was born on June 19, 1963 and this date has been consistent except the error that occurred in his WAEC Certificate which was promptly corrected with a duly sworn affidavit as required by Law in 2003, long before he contested and won House of Assembly election in 2015.

It is a legal requirement for citizens to depose to affidavits to correct issues regarding age, names and others whenever necessary, provided that the deponent is stating the truth and the content of the affidavit is to the best of his or her knowledge. Oborevwori’s age is not in dispute and will never be indisputable. He was born on June 19, 1963.

Multiple and Different Names in Certificates; his two English names – Sheriff and Francis, as well as his Okpe-Urhobo native name – Orohwedor has been well structured and tailored together in a legal and lawful Affidavit, deposed to in a Court of Competent Jurisdiction, duly signed and recorded by Commissioner for Oaths.

Oborevwori took further steps to notify the general public and by extension the whole world via a paid advertisement in the Nigerian Observer Newspaper of 30th January, 2004. By the said publication, Oborevwori completed the entire legal process for name change as required by law while all his previous academic certificates and other documents either bearing; Sheriff Oborevwori, Oborevwori Francis Orohwedor, remained valid. And from that date forward his new legal and subsisting name became – Oborevwori Sheriff Francis Orohwedor.

He took further legal steps on 7th July, 2011 by signing a Deed Poll to again reaffirm and/or revalidate his name as Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, and same was duly gazetted by the Federal Government of Nigeria. Apart from his surname, the other names can be used interchangeably.

All these took effect before he was elected member representing the good people of Okpe State Constituency in 2015. PDP and INEC cleared him severally based on verifiable evidence duly in tandem with subsisting Laws and enactments.

It is illegal for anybody to refer to Oborevwori by his previous names after the affidavit, deed poll and newspaper publication have been perfected and validated by constituted authorities saddled with such responsibilities.

Fake WAEC Certificate and Inconsistencies in Secondary Education; This has been dealt with extensively. The blackmailers and propagandists goofed (Edevbie and associates). Oborevwori attended the old former Oghareki Grammar School founded 1970 and has nothing to do with the new Oghareki Grammar School founded 2014. It is now a settled matter. Edevbie and Associates are no longer contesting this fact.

Other prominent Deltans who also attended the old Oghareki Grammar School include; Former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, former MD of DESOPADEC, Chief Makinde Williams, Chief Emmanual Ighomena, Mr Azania Omo Agege, and others.

Therefore, Oghareki Grammar School which reflected in Oborevwori’s WAEC Certificate in 1999 is genuine and perfect, because as at the time he sat for his WAEC, the name of the school was Oghareki Grammar School, later renamed Baptist Missionary School, in 2011.

PDP DELEGATES; Investigations revealed that the primary purpose of all these false allegations against Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori is to confuse and mislead PDP delegates by the evil doers and their hired media propagandists. But their evil plans failed.

Edevbie has been boasting about that he has the “financial war chest” to buy all party delegates at any cost. To back up his proof of financial weight, he allegedly took further steps to transfer monthly bribe-money of N25,000 in March and April, to statutory delegates across the state, with a promise to credit their bank accounts with N5 million each, a day to party primaries as vote buying money.

The questions Deltans and the delegates are asking is that; where did David Edevbie acquired his stupendous wealth? How was he able to stock pill N250 Billion for party primaries and election? Why did Edevbie chose to display his billionaire status during Guber election? Why did he refused to spend these billions of Naira for poor Deltans before now? Is this not the same Edevbie that will never part with N200 to assist anybody in the past?

Some political observers came to the conclusion that Edevbie must have keep his own share of the looted Delta funds between 1999 and 2007, for a time such as this. His confidence is in the alleged N25,000 monthly vote buying money to delegates and the huge chunk of millions he promised to remit to each delegate from the alleged stock pilled N250 Billion unscrupulous funds.

The implication of Edevbie’s alleged vote buying is that Delta State Treasury will suffer should he succeed with his evil plans. Deltans will witness the worst looting era than the previous one between 1999 and 2007.

But money will not help Edevbie to win the Guber ticket of PDP. He will be disappointed at the end of the day. PDP delegates knows what to do. They will not vote for a corrupt individual and a professional smart money launderer.

PDP delegates will vote the Pan Delta Governorship aspirant and Unifier, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, JP.

Fellow Deltans and delegates, the coast is very clear. PDP Appeal panel has cleared Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, and he will be emerge as PDP Guber flag bearer on May 23, 2022.

Our delegates are in one accord, to vote SHERIFF, the Pan Delta Governorship aspirant at the party’s Guber Primaries.
