National Chairman of Delta Central 2023 (DC-23), Chief Ighoyota Amori has described as laughable and outright blackmail the insinuations published by The Union Nigeria an online news website alleging that he is in an ‘unholy political alliance’ with the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-agege, on the 2023 governorship election in Delta State.

In a phone chat with NewsNet Nigeria Amori said the thoughts expressed in the October 18, 2021, publication by the medium were the figment of the imagination of the author and his sponsors.

Amori, who heads DC-23, a political lobby group for the realisation of power rotation to Delta Central Senatorial of the state come 2023, termed the publication as one of the antics of those opposed to the cohesion and unity of purpose existing among political gladiators and their followers from Delta Central geared towards the district clinching to power in 2023.

The former commissioner in the state and political adviser to two national chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said, “Enemies of Delta Central are looking for ways to distract us from our collective resolve and unity ahead of the 2023 general elections especially as it pertains to the governorship position which we have continued to canvass across the state under DC-23 should be the turn of Delta Central.

“Majority of political stakeholders from the district are in unionism for DC-23 to midwife the process considering the antecedents, pedigree and commitment of persons steering the ship of the group.

“This unity of purpose which now exists amongst us the key political players of the group backed by the strong support of our teeming supporters and the entire people of Delta Central we would not compromise on the alter of blackmail.

“Deltans particularly the people of Delta Central should kindly ignore the publication and continue to rally DC-23 to achieve its set goal needed for sustained political harmony of Delta State.”

Amori challenged his political detractors to show proof of any alliance with Omo-Agege or forever remain silent in their wicked antics to smear his reputation noting that he remains one key player of the PDP in Delta that has never jumped ship despite his political travails.

Amori, who is currently the Chairman, Asaba Capital Development Agency also carpeted one Onobrayikpeyan David for alleging “secret plans of Ifeanyi Ebiogbe the DOP, Amori and Askia to screen governorship aspirants from Delta Central and endorse Sheriff through DC 23”.

The DC-23 national chairman cautioned supporters of governorship aspirants from the district against being over-zealous and desperate to the detriment of their Principals stressing that power ultimately belongs to God.

Amori restated his loyalty to former Governor James Ibori saying their bond of friendship has continued to wax stronger in the face of emerging challenges orchestrated by enemies of the Urhobo nation.
