As Nigerians ushered in the New Year, Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has expressed strong optimism that 2026 will deliver improved economic prospects and accelerated development for the district and the wider Urhobo Nation.
In a New Year message released on January 1, 2026, the lawmaker said available economic indicators point to a better year ahead compared to 2025, noting that while challenges remain, measurable progress has been made.
“We may not yet be exactly where we aspire to be as a people, but we are certainly not where we used to be,” Dafinone stated, describing the journey of Delta Central as one defined by resilience, determination, and steady advancement.
The senator urged residents, particularly those in rural communities, to remain focused and committed to their businesses and traditional occupations, which he described as critical drivers of grassroots economic growth and long-term prosperity.
Dafinone also highlighted the current political alignment between the Delta State Government and the Federal Government as a strategic advantage capable of fast-tracking development if effectively leveraged.
According to him, the synergy presents a rare opportunity to attract projects and deliver tangible benefits to communities across Delta Central.
Calling for unity and a forward-looking mindset, the senator appealed to the Urhobo Nation to remain positive and cohesive as the new year unfolds.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the Delta State Governor and federal authorities to ensure that development interventions reach all parts of the senatorial district.
Expressing confidence in the year ahead, Dafinone described 2026 as a period of renewed hope, inclusion, and meaningful progress for Delta Central and the Urhobo people.
