A customer banking with the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) main office in Asaba headquarters of Delta State, Mr Praise Oweifie Tokoni has dragged the bank before a High Court sitting in Asaba, to demand the refund of the sum of Four Hundred and Forty Thousand Naira (#440,000.00) he alleged was illegally deducted from his bank account.

NewsNet Nigeria learnt that the legal team to Tokoni is awaiting FCMB’s response on the notice of service which must be done within 30 days from the date they were served.

Tokoni had recently said he was surprised to notice that the sum of #440,000.00 had been withdrawn from his FCMB current account number: 7015137023 at about 3:02pm on the 11th of August, 2021.

A letter from Mr Tokoni’s lawyers, A.N. Eseagwu Esq of LexPoint Solicitors, said, “our client had been very careful in keeping his ATM card, PIN and other banking documents safe and wondered how his money could have been withdrawn without disclosing his personal information to anybody”.

The lawyers also said that when checked, the client had discovered that the money was deducted from a POS even when his ATM card was in his pocket at home.
