Blessing Emmanuel, a woman who sells fried chicken in Ughelli, Delta State, is now cooling off in police custody for allegedly killing her husband, Jonathan Otomi Umamode, with a knife.

The incident took place on Sunday at Ohoro town.

A statement by the Delta State Police Command Acting Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, said the suspect aged 30years is a mother of seven and pregnant with her 8th child.

The statement said Blessing, who has confessed to the crime blamed the unfortunate incident on her anger which stemmed from her late husband’s refusal to take care of her and the children saying she has been taking care of herself and her kids.

According to the statement, Blessing said on that fateful day while selling fried chicken her husband came and demanded she go home with him, which she refused adding that he thereafter gathered her fried chickens, poured kerosene and set them ablaze.

This, she said made to angrily use the knife in her hand to stab the husband aged 43years in his heart and ran away.

The Delta State Police image-maker, Edafe in the statement the case is still under investigation.

Meantime, on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, three occupants of a tricycle abandoned the tricycle with Reg. No GUE 477 VC with two locally cut-to-size single barrel guns inside on sighting a police patrol team on patrol along Giwa-Amu road in Warri.

The state PPRO, Edafe said the three occupants abandoned the tricycle and ran into a nearby bush.

He explained that they were given a hot chase but the crowding nature of the area made it difficult to arrest them.

Edafe said effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
