A popular member of the anti-cult paramilitary group in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State was allegedly caught in the early hours of Thursday while carting away goods worth millions of Naira he and two others stole from a shop at Igbiki Layout Phase One Opposite NBTC junction, Ovwian.

The vigilante member popularly called Kayode who drives a branded Sienna as RAIDER was accompanied by a man and a woman who has a striking resemblance with the owner of the mini market.

Sources told NewsNet Nigeria that they were awoken by the sound of an alarm at about three in the morning by a resident who saw Kayode break into the shop and pack many commodities into the waiting Sienna bus.

The sources who craved anonymity said that Kayode and his gang sighting the crowd of the residents including the Oghwuvwie of the Igbiki Layout drove away in a hurry leaving many items like tins of sardines splashed along the road.

They were later arrested and taken to the Ovwian Aladja Police Station where he is presently cooling off.

Though Mr Kayode maintains that he was not involved in the breaking into the supermarket let alone stealing from the shop, but has appealed to the owner that she should allow him to pay for the stolen goods.

NewsNet Nigeria gathered that the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ovwian Aladja Police Station has vowed to prosecute the suspects but Mr Kayode has allegedly sent emissaries including a police officer to prevail on the owner of the shop to withdraw the case.

The owner of the shop it was learned is insisting that they should return the stolen goods before she would agree to any settlement.

Recounting the commodities stolen from her shop, the owner popularly called Mama Divine, listed them to include several bags of rice, cartons of noodles, expensive wines and tins of sardines.
