Residents of Orhuwhorun community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State are still counting their losses from Sunday evening clash between two rival cult groups which wrecked havoc in the area.
NewsNet Nigeria on Sunday night broke the news of the fatal clash between the rival cult groups in arguably the most populous community in Udu Council Area.
It has now been revealed that about a dozen persons sustained various forms of bodily injuries from the cultists who allegedly shot sporadically, looted and destroyed property worth millions of naira.
It was gathered that a man in his 20’s was attacked by the cultists in an undisclosed church in Orhuwhorun during their annual thanksgiving service and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
In Ekrabe Quarters, off Adanibo road, an alcohol/soft drinks depot was attacked by the cultists who broke crates of drinks amounting to thousands of naira.
Along Adanibo road, just after Orhuwhorun Primary School, Adanibo, a wholesale trader was attacked by the cultists who carted away her recharge cards and a large amount of cash.
Reacting to the incident, former President-General of Orhuwhorun community, Olorogun David Ayuma, lamented over the level of insecurity witnessed in the community of late.
Olorogun Ayuma, who doubles as the chairman, Ayuma Football Club, was also not spared as the front and back windscreen of his Lexus Jeep was smashed by the cultists.
He has therefore called on the government and relevant security agencies to ensure peace is restored in Orhuwhorun as the community leaders seem not to have a viable solution to curb the insecurity in the area.
