There was palpable tension on Wednesday night in Ubeji community, Warri South Local Government Area as gunmen shot three persons dead.
The deceased were shot at closed range and died on the spot.
The incident occurred at about 9pm at the boundary between Ubeji and Egbokodo communities.
Our Correspondent who visited the area this morning reports that the incident may not be unconnected to cult related issues in the area.
When contacted on Thursday morning, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the report in a telephone chat with Our Correspondent in Warri.
She said, “It’s true. I have heard it,” but she didn’t say if the killings have anything to do with cult matters.
As at the time filings this report, indigenes and residents of the community are still in shock over the killings.
