Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested a suspected notorious cultist while allegedly on his way to supply a locally made English Berretta pistol to one of his customers.
The suspect, Bibi Asengbe, 38 years also alleged to be a gun-runner until his arrest on Monday, May 22, 2023, had been on the wanted list of Delta State Police Command.
The Command spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe in a statement on Tuesday said, the suspect was trailed to his trailed and arrested in his hideout at Okwukoko community in Okpe Local Government Area of the state.
According to the statement, Bibi Asengbe was trailed to his hideout after he was sighted on a motorcycle around Okwukoko community prompting the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) for Orerokpe Division, SP Paul Obaware to mobilise the Patrol team from Orerokpe alongside members of the local anti-cult group embarked on the operation to the hideout.
The statement added that at the hideout, “he (Bibi Asengbe) was rounded up and arrested. When the search was conducted on him, a locally made English Berretta pistol was recovered from him.
“Investigation revealed that the suspect was on his way to supply the arm to one of his customers named Marvin (surname unknown) at Jakpa junction Warri at a cost of two hundred and fifty thousand naira (#250,000). Investigation is ongoing and a manhunt for the said Marvin and other accomplices are ongoing.”
