Scammers register mobile line with name of former Delta governor to defraud people

Members of the public have been asked to disregard calls from a phone number claiming to belong to former Governor James Ibori.

The operator of the phone number which reads 09023873794 has reportedly been calling up people with the number with the intention of defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

Investigations revealed that the former Governor has no knowledge of the phone number.

It was however found that the scammer registered the number with the name of the former Governor which pops up under verification through Truecaller name registration application.

It was also revealed that the scammer has been sending an account number whose details are: Union Bank.

Account Name: BANABAS EMEKA. Account Number: 0167345157.

The scammer has been requesting money from members of the public claiming to be a domestic staff of Chief James Ibori.

Members of the public are advised to be wary of the many antics of fraudsters at this period and at all times explaining that mischief-makers were also busy trying to tarnish the image of former Governor Chief James Ibori Governor.

Investigation however it was gathered is ongoing to unmask those behind this nefarious act.
