Policemen in viral video manhandling woman arrested in Delta

The policemen caught in the viral video manhandling a woman in Delta State have been arrested and detained.

The erring Police officers serving at the Agbarho Division were identified, summoned, and detained at the Command headquarters in Asaba on the orders of the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali.

The CP in a statement by the spokesperson of the Command, DSP Bright Edafe, condemned the action of the policemen in it’s entirety “as no citizen deserves to be treated in such a manner either by the Police or anybody”.

The Command which frowned seriously at the manhandling of the woman in a dehumanizing manner in the viral video noted that the policemen acted in “an unprofessional manner unbecoming of police officers. Their act is not only inexcusable but unpardonable and will not be tolerated by the Command. The erring Police officers serving at Agbarho Division have been identified, summoned, and detained at the command headquarters”.

According to the statement CP Ari Muhammed Ali has directed that internal disciplinary action be initiated immediately and at the end of their orderly room trial, members of the public will be intimated on the outcome.

He assured members of the public that the officers concerned will be decisively dealt in accordance with the extant laws as stipulated in the Police act and regulations to serve as a deterrent to others.
