The traditional ruler of Wawa in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, Dr Mahmud Aliyu, has been rescued by men of the state Police Command.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this known to newsmen on Saturday in Minna, the state capital.
Abiodun said the monarch was rescued on Friday at about 7:30pm through a coordinated and sustained effort of the police, military and vigilante.
The traditional ruler was abducted last Sunday by heavily armed at his palace at about 10pm.
The monarch is said to be receiving medical attention at an undisclosed facility.
