The child, Ridwan Ibrahim, a male, got missing on Wednesday, July 2, 2023, while playing with other children in his mother’s sister’s compound.

The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, in a statement today, Saturday, said the two suspected child traffickers are females.

According to him, the child’s mother, a resident of Jaret in Asaba, on Thursday, July 3, 2023, reported to the Command that she took her child along when she went on a visit to the sister’s place that fateful day only for the child to get missing while playing with other children in the compound.

“Based on this information, the Commissioner of Police Delta State CP Wale Abass, detailed operatives of SIB to embark on an intelligence-led investigation.

“The team swung into action, analyzing the phone conversation of some suspected persons. Consequently, on 3/8/2023, two suspects namely Mallam Sa’ad Ahmed Baba ‘m’ aged 57yrs of No. 12 Lagos Street, Cable Point Asaba and Halima Abubakar ‘f’ aged 25ys of Jaret Cable Point Asaba were arrested, and the child was rescued at Issele-Asagba where they hid the child,” said the Police image-maker in the statement.
