Police remove DPO in Lagos for detaining lawyer

Lagos State Police Command has removed with immediate effect the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Gowon Estate Divison, for allegedly detaining a lawyer seeking justice for his client.

The Comand’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin who confirmed the removal in a statement on Wednesday explained that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr Adegoke Fayoade, ordered the immediate removal of the DPO from the division.

He said that investigation into the incident has been concluded noting that the allegations against the DPO were published in the media on January 4.

The Police spokesperson said the DPO will remain removed pending a review of his case by the Lagos Police Command.
