The Police in Abuja has invited and quizzed the Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Rainoil, Dr. Gabriel Ogbochie over alleged assassination plot against billionaire international lawyer and politician, Prince Ned Nwoko.
NewsNet gathered that the suspect who honoured the Police invitation was in custody as at 5pm on Thursday.
Dr. Ogbochie’s invitation by the Police came after Prince Nwoko sent an “Open Letter” to the Inspector-General of Police about a plot allegedly hatched in Kuje Prison to assassinate him over the Idumuje-Ugboko murder and terrorism trial.
Nwoko had in the open letter urged the Police to unearth the sponsors of those allegedly plotting to harm him.
Dr. Ogbochie is from Idumuje-Ugboko in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State and he is reported to be a friend of Prince Nwoko, who is also a native of the same village.
It was learnt that Dr Ogbechie and the Prince Nwoko reportedly parted ways over the kingship tussle in the Nwoko Royal family.
NewsNet learnt that the dispute between both prominent men of Idumuje-Ugboko allegedly led to mayhem in the community between May 18 and 25, 2017, with many supporters of Prince Ned reportedly attacked.
The two persons who were allegedly murdered in the attacks were, Cyprian Kumiolun and Kennedy Iloh.
Some of the alleged hoodlums involved in the attacks are now facing trial for terrorism and murder at the Federal High Court, Abuja, under Justice Okon Abang.
Dr. Ogbechie is a supporter of Prince Chukwunonso Nwoko, one of the claimants to the disputed Idumuje-Ugboko stool and also among the accused persons in the terrorism trial, implicated to have imported the hoodlums that wreaked havoc in the village in 2017.
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa and the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya are yet to respond to text messages sent across to their mobile phones as well return calls for confirmation of the report.
