Five suspected armed robbers have been killed by Operatives of the ‘B’ Division Warri surveillance team of the Delta State Police Command.
The five hoodlums died from serious gunshot injuries they sustained during a gun duel with the police operatives on Friday, July 1, 2022, while they were being taken to the hospital.
DSP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the Command said the police team while on Aberdeen patrol along Lower Erejuwa Street in Warri, received a distress call that a suspected armed robbery gang was terrorising Igbudu market/old welfare.
“The team acting on this distress moved to the scene where the hoodlums on sighting the police took to their heels, and the team went after them. Somewhere around old welfare road, the hoodlums went into a gun duel with the Operatives, but could not withstand the superior firepower of the police.
“Two locally-made cut-to-size single barrel guns, three rounds of expended cartridges, three rounds of live cartridges and one dagger were recovered from them,” said the police image-maker.
