Police arrest 10 suspected gunrunners, recover 51 arms in Delta

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have smashed a syndicate which specializes in manufacturing locally made guns and other arms in their hideout in Emuhu community in Ika North-East Local Government Area of the state.

A team of the Command Anti-Cult Unit (SACU) led by the Commander, SP Christopher Igbaji, on Monday, October 31, 2022, raided and arrested the suspected ring leader of the syndicate, Peter Okolie, aged 58 and 9 others all from Agba Quarters Emuhu.

The spokesperson for the police in Delta, DSP Bright Edafe, in a statement said during the raid the team recovered, “forty-two (42) locally made single barrel guns, six (6) double barrel guns, three (3) pump action guns, two (2) filing machines, and a toolbox containing fabricated materials working tools were recovered.

“The CP commended the team for the successful operation and assures all residents in the State that the Command will not relent in the fight against crime and criminality, noting that Proactive Policing and Community Police is key in this fight.

“He adjoined all to continue to partner with the Command by giving useful, timely and credible information that will help the Command to Nip crime in the Bud.”
