Passenger arrested in Delta with single barrel gun hidden in bag of garri

A patrol team attached to the Ovwian/Aladja Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Delta State has arrested a passenger one locally made single barrel gun concealed in a bag of garri.

The suspect, Pigi Kelvin, according to the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, was arrested on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Igbiki in Ovwian/Aladja by the patrol team while on stop and search duty.

Aged 42, Kelvin, a native of Ututuoama town in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State was among passengers in a commercial bus who were intercepted by the patrol team.

The arrest of Kelvin with a gun hidden in a bag of garri comes nine days after men of the Delta State Police Command attached to the Bomadi Divisional patrol team arrested one Solomon Ebe, with a bag of garri containing Three Hundred and Forty (340) rounds of AK47 live ammunition.

Ebe, a 37-year-old of Tuomo community in Burutu Local Government Area of the state was arrested by the patrol team on Friday, October 1, 2021, while on stop and search duty along the Bomadi/Tuomo road.

Meanwhile, on Monday, October 11, 2021, men of Ovwian Aladja Division also raided criminal hideouts and black spots in Ujvwu community.

The raid led to the arrest of Godspower Alfred, aged 23 and  Destiny Akwara, aged 34, who were in possession of a locally made cut to size gun and some wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
