One person has allegedly died in a fracas that engulfed Abraka Wednesday evening as the NDLEA engaged a patent chemist operator in Abraka.

The matter was later to degenerate into a clash which pitted the community youth with NDLEA and the Police in the fracas.

A dependable source told NewsNet Nigeria that operatives of the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, and the Nigeria Police Force, Abraka Divisional headquarters were involved in the fracas with the community youth at the popular Abraka junction.

The source on condition of anonymity said NDLEA men had accosted a supposed student of the Delta State University, Abraka, who entered a shop to buy some drugs.

Trouble started when the operator of the chemist intervened to make clarification about the drug earlier purchased from his shop.

In the ensuing confusion an NDLEA official fired a shot that pierced the eyes of the shop owner who was immediately rushed to the hospital.

The report of his death was said to have sparked anger among the community youth who were protesting the death of the patent medicine seller.

According to the source, the vehicle of men of the NDLEA was destroyed while the officers took refuge in the Police station.

It was gathered that the youths in a bid to revenge the death of the patent shop dealer demanded instant justice upon the so called errant and killer NDLEA officers and began venting their anger on the Abraka Police Station.

It was not immediately clear if there was further causality from the fracas that ensued but unconfirmed information revealed that another youth died in the crisis which lasted over three hours before peace was eventually restored.
