After months on the run, the founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church, Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for allegedly masterminding multiple shipments of illicit drugs into Nigeria.
NDLEA officers apprehended the cleric on Sunday, 3 August 2025, at his church on Okun Ajah, Ogombo Road, Lekki, Lagos. Operatives reportedly monitored the premises from morning, waiting for the conclusion of the evening worship service before moving in as he stepped outside.
The arrest followed months of evasion. Prophet Adefolusho had twice escaped arrest and fled to Ghana in June after operatives linked him to two major seizures of Ghana Loud, a potent strain of cannabis.
The first haul of 200kg was intercepted at Okun Ajah beach on June 4, 2025; another 700kg was recovered from his delivery van on July 6, 2025.
In custody, he allegedly confessed to transporting the consignments via waterways from Ghana into Nigeria, admitting he went into hiding in the West African country to avoid capture.
