Kidnappers ambush claims life of DPO, another in critical condition in Delta

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Agbarho Police Division has been killed in an ambush by kidnappers in Delta State.

NewsNet Nigeria gathered that his Orerokpe counterpart in Okpe Local Government Area, simply identified as CSP Paul, also sustained serious gunshots and is currently in critical condition in an undisclosed hospital.

The unfortunate incident took place in the early hours of today, Monday, on the Agbarho-Ughelli end of the East-West Road in Delta State.

Dependable sources told NewsNet Nigeria both DPOs had led a combined team for a kidnap rescue operation but were unaware that the kidnap gang had laid an ambush and battle ready to encounter them.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Efafe confirmed the development but declined further details.
