Residents of Orhuwhorun Community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, Monday night, ran hatter skelter as gunmen shot sporadically in the air while kidnapping a drugstore owner.
According to eyewitnesses, the owner of the drugstore was about to enter his Toyota Hilux van when one of the kidnappers disguised as destitute, held on to his legs and appealed for help.
What ensued a few minutes later was unimaginable as the supposed destitute pulled out a gun from nowhere and shot sporadically to scare away passersby and staff of the medicine shop who were looking to intervene in the earlier scuffle.
The pretending destitute was later joined by other members of his armed gang to whisk away the drugstore owner, who is a native of Emede leaving no traces.
Sources told NewsNet Nigeria that this made it the third time the drugstore owner would be kidnapped leaving residents of Orhuwhorun Community wondering why the reoccurrence without any confrontation by men of the Nigeria Police Force or due diligence to track down his abductors afterwards.
At the time of filing this report, the drugstore was locked with the Toyota Hilux van still outside the one-storey building housing it.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.
