Pandemonium broke out Saturday in Orhuwhorun town in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State as five gunmen shot dead a trader.
The incident which occurred about 9pm around the Usiefurun junction axis saw the gunmen abducting the son of the deceased who was a popular trader.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants, who drove a Toyota Sienna, shot and killed Francis Digbe Tefue, a man who deals in building materials and abducted his son, Sam, who was also with him.
NewsNet Nigeria gathered that the assailants who shot sporadically in the air lasting about 30 minutes, drove off with the kidnapped son towards Usiefurun road leaving dust behind.
The deceased according to sources has a big shop where he deals in building materials and only added a Point of Sales (POS) service a few months ago.
Residents of Orhuwhorun, who knew the peace-loving man was left bewildered by the news, while others frowned at the capabilities of the security personnel in the community who have cultivated the habit of harassing youths and neglecting their primary aim of securing lives and property.
When NewsNet Nigeria contacted the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Command, DSP Bright Edafe, he said, “Kill father, yes, but the son was not abducted. They came to rob him, he operates a POS shop”.
