A man who hacked his wife to death in Oviorie, a community in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State has been arrested.

The community was thrown into a state of disbelief on Friday when the man identified as Taiye hacked his wife to death.

Investigations revealed that the middle-aged man believed to be from Okorekpo, a nearby village fled the scene of the incident after killing the wife to an unknown destination.

NewsNet Nigeria gathered that three days after the incident, the fleeing suspected murderer has been arrested in Abraka, where he fled to and hid in his sister’s home.

Unfortunately, however, the sister secretly invited the community’s vigilante who arrested the fleeing husband and handed him over to the Police in Isiokolo Division, the headquarters of Ethiope East Local Government Area.

The corpse of the dead woman known as Endurance had since been deposited in a mortuary at Orerokpe.

The dead woman had left her first marriage where she had eight children to meet her present husband, unknown to her that horrible death would claim her life.

In a phone chat with NewsNet Nigeria, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe confirmed the arrest of the suspect adding that he has been transferred to the State CID for further investigation.
